Norwegian party suggests financial transaction tax
The Socialist Left in Norway has requested that the Government prepares a study on global taxes. The main argument is that supplementary income to the UN needs to be secured.
The study will look at how financial transactions can be taxed, a currency transaction tax being a part of that. The request does not mention the two-tier tax, and focusses solely on the income part.
It is however interesting that a special taxation of tax havens is mentioned, which can be useful hindering tax evasion. The request also takes into consideration tax on arms trade and environmental taxes. The Parliament will make a decision on the request in June.
For Norwegian-readers the complete request can be read on the site of the parlament Stortinget.
