Overall objectives of the call: Explore opportunities for international, coordinated campaigning in support of financial transactions taxes.

AGENDA:

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

-- U.S. political context
-- Developments in other G20 countries
-- FTT-related discussions at Copenhagen climate meeting

STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR JOINT ACTION

-- Update on UK/European Campaign with Richard Curtis
-- IMF Consultation
-- Activities related to key upcoming events:

World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland (January 27-31) Can we work with FTT supporters who will be attending to advocate for the issue there?  Other ideas?

G20 Finance Ministers meeting in Washington (April 23-25 – coincides with World Bank and IMF spring meetings). Should we try to organize a joint international press conference?  (In part, this could respond to the IMF report which should be released then.)  European groups have discussed sending letters to all the G20 governments, similar to the IMF sign-on letter. Other ideas?

G20 Summit in Toronto (June 26-27).  European groups have discussed the idea of a big cyber sign-on action.  Other ideas?
